Construction plans in Hutto approved

HUTTO – Residents in Hutto will start to see infrastructure improvements in the near future. The Hutto City Council voted to continue with improvements on the city’s infrastructure plans during last month’s meetings that include waterline, transportation and drainage, in addition to highway expansions that have been budgeted in and around more than $2 million in funds on bid less, contractual projects.

Children at Taylor Independent School District’s Child Development Center, which serves children ages six weeks to three years of age, recently celebrated the grandparents of their community by inviting these loved ones to their school for a special time together.

Spirit of Halloween Haunts Hutto Homes

HUTTO – Hutto scared up more than fifty local homeowners for the inaugural Halloween House Decorating Contest. The Parks and Recreation department sponsored the ghoulish contest. Volunteer judges went to every home entered and came up with a list of winners in four spooktastic categories.

District needs help keeping Hutto warm

HUTTO – As the temperatures start to get lower, a friendly reminder that the Hutto ISD Parent & Family Engagement team’s “Hippo Hangers” program has an immediate need for cold-weather clothing including coats, jackets, long-sleeved shirts, sweaters/sweatshirts, socks and pants. Clothes of all sizes are needed, but the biggest need is sizes for elementary children.

Youth Ducks capture first ever State Championship

With the clock winding down, coaches and players on the Taylor Youth Ducks varsity football team took the top off the water cooler and dumped it on head coach Quincy Griffin’s head, signifying their Tri-County Youth Football League Super Bowl Championship victory Saturday night.

Three arrested on weapons charges at Hutto school

HUTTO – Three teenagers were arrested on weapons charges in the Hutto High School parking lot Thursday, Nov. 3. The arrests were made during a varsity football game at Memorial Stadium. A spectator alerted a Hutto Independent School District police officer to the possible presence of a gun in the parking lot and individuals having a verbal altercation.

Construction kicked off Monday for a number of improvements to the city’s downtown. Projects will include striping for additional parking spaces, updated landscaping, signage, and the installation of permanent street features on the northwest corner of Second and Main streets.

$82 million bond for Taylor ISD passes

A bond that will address safety, district growth, and aging facilities was put before the voters and passed Tuesday night. The bond for the district is $82.47 million and had more than 5,000 people vote on the issue.

Advent fair Nov. 12 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bartlett

St. John’s Lutheran Church will host its 43 annual Advent Fair from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the church, located at 30650 State Highway 95, one mile north of Bartlett. At the fair, visitors can enjoy a silent and live auction, which will start at 6 p.m., featuring hand-made and donated items for holiday gifts, including quilts, wreaths, wood projects and more.
