The Taylor Rodeo Association gave out $50,000 in scholarships during the 2023 Taylor Rodeo. Scholarship applicants had to be from Williamson, Milam or Lee County.

The Taylor Rodeo Association introduced Katelyn Aderhold as the Taylor Rodeo Queen for 2023-2024. Currently, Aderhold is an incoming junior at Thrall High School and is the junior director of the Williamson County Livestock Show. She is an FFA officer, a member of the Student Council, volleyball player and a frequent volunteer. She plans to attend Tarleton State University and major in Agriculture and Consumer Science.

Animal shelter construction on schedule

The Taylor animal shelter renovations are underway and on schedule. The shelter had to temporarily limit its capacity since construction began in June.

TRAINING DAY

AUSTIN – The second class of the Samsung Austin Semiconductor interns from Taylor High School officially finished their training with a ceremony. The plant hosted a celebration Friday, July 21, for the interns’ last day of the six-week internship in the main fab lobby.

City seeks to expedite industrial permitting

City leaders are paving the way for new industrial businesses associated with Samsung Austin Semiconductor to get up and running at lightning speed. At the July 13 Taylor City Council meeting, development services officials introduced Ordinance 2023-30 to amend the subdivision ordinance to allow the municipality to issue building permits prior to accepting the related infrastructure in order to expedite large-scale projects hoping to set up shop in the shadow of Samsung.

Taylor ISD to launch superintendent search

Taylor Independent School District school trustees will begin the process of selecting a replacement for Superintendent Devin Padavil at their July 24 meeting. Padavil has been named the lone finalist for superintendent of the Georgetown Independent School District after serving for two and a half years as superintendent of Taylor ISD.

Ducks football highlights important upcoming dates

July is already coming to an end as Taylor High School varsity football is less than two weeks away from putting on the pads and helmets again. Taylor athletic director and head football coach Earven Flowers put out an announcement last week for Ducks football players, their families and the community with some important upcoming dates regarding the program.
