Dorothy Reynolds Gilligan

Dorothy Reynolds Gilligan went to be with the Lord on Aug. 13, 2023, just two days shy of her eightyseventh birthday. Dot was born Aug. 15, 1936, in Athens. She was the third daughter of Gordon Allen Reynolds and Muriel Mann Reynolds. She was notably the first baby born in the newly erected Wolfe and Duphorne Hospital. Dot accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 9.

Firefighter loses home in blaze

HUTTO – A local firefighter who lost his home in the Aug. 8 Cedar Park fire is getting help from colleagues and the community. The Hutto Professional Firefighters Foundation has started a fundraising campaign to support Ruben Telles, who has been a fire engine driver with Hutto Fire Rescue since April 2020.

City sets upper limit for tax rate

For next year’s budget, city property taxes will rise by about 5.2 percent thanks to higher values, but not as much as in the surrounding communities — and they will be collected at a much lower tax rate, say city leaders.
