POLICE INVESTIGATING SHOTS FIRED DURING HOME INVASION

The Taylor Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place during a burglary Aug. 11.

The incident took place in the 200 block of Dahlberg Boulevard and was reported shortly after 11 p.m.

According to the police department’s initial investigation, several individuals had been outside the residence causing damage to the victim’s vehicles, but officers were not called until after the suspects entered the residence where one of the occupants exchanged gunfire with the suspects inside the residence.

An investigation revealed no suspects were at the scene when the officers arrived. There were no reports of injury to anyone in the home.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact the Taylor Police Department at 512352-5551.

HUTTO’S CITY FUNDS INVOLVED IN CYBERCRIME

HUTTO – Hutto potentially experienced a cybercrime.

City officials were notified by its financial institution Monday, Aug. 14 that $193,000 in city funds were transferred to an illegitimate account posing as a known vendor.

The same financial institution has assured the city that there is no further risk of being frauded by the account again and no personal information was involved in this criminal activity.

The city has filed a police report with the Hutto Police Department and an investigation is currently underway.

The city says cybersecurity is a top priority for Hutto, with numerous measures and staff training in place to mitigate situations like these.

TAYLOR ISD OPENS AMBASSADOR REGISTRATION

Registration is now open for Taylor Independent School District’s popular and informative ambassador program.

Participants meet one day each month, September through March, for an indepth look at the Taylor public schools.

During their time with the district, ambassadors hear from district speakers and visit every campus.

They are encouraged to ask questions and share what they learn with others.

There is no cost to participate, and morning refreshments as well as lunch are provided. Applications may be submitted online at http://www. taylorisd.org under the Community tab and must be completed by Sept. 22 to be considered. A criminal background check is required as part of the application process.
