If your group is a tax-exempt organization serving Taylor, it might be eligible for funds from Samsung Austin Semiconductor. An in-person opportunity to learn more about the possibility will be Thursday, Aug.

The program is a community-focused, collaborative program that provides participants an in-depth look at government operations, community planning and awareness, and the opportunity to learn about civic culture from the inside. The classes include information about how city government works, operations of various city departments and Taylor Independent School District. Classes also covered civic organizations, Taylor history, the Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, the Taylor Economic Development Corporation, Main Street and downtown Businesses. Classes are slated to return next year.

Hutto ISD trustee Billie Logiudice has earned the designation of Master Trustee upon completion of Leadership TASB, a program sponsored by the Texas Association of School Boards. Logiudice has served Hutto ISD since 2010.

The Avery-Pickett Volunteer Fire Department added a new piece of hardware to assist with fighting fires. The department now has a 2,000-gallon tender with a 1250 GPM pump, which is typically used by firefighters to supply water to fire hose reels, fire hydrants or sprinkler systems.

The Friends of the Taylor Public Library have elected new officers for the next year. Leading the organization are Maria Newman, president; Lois Duncan, vice president; Ann Wentrcek, treasurer; and Robin McKinley, secretary.
