It’s official. Fort Hood, named for a high-ranking Confederate officer in the Civil War, has been renamed Fort Cavazos, in honor of native Texan Richard E. Cavazos, the country’s first Hispanic four-star general.

“There is goodness everywhere and kindness matters.” I usually end my column with these words, but this time I want to start with it because I have experienced so much kindness this week that I want to share with you. “Shoutout to Ashley and Omar at Strickland Brothers for their fast and friendly service.
