Be merry and shine bright

GOOD NEWS

BY ISABELLA TEBEAU

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, and miss what this special time is all about – helping others through selfless acts of kindness. No matter how small or large your gift may be, Christmas is about filling hearts around us with peace and joy.

This year, we have seen a lot of kindness. Many helping hands were offered and smiles were shared.

Let’s continue this long after gifts are exchanged and let’s remember that peace always begins with us.

Enjoy this local Christmas story.

“I just have to share this with y’all. I see so many negative posts and comments on here about Taylor, but I hope and pray every day that there’s still some smalltown values and good people here and that will never change, no matter how big Taylor gets.

My son’s BMX bike was stolen from the skate park a little over a month ago. This wasn’t just any ordinary bike that could be replaced. His dad died of COVID two years ago, and had bought him this bike right before he passed away. They built it together and customized it the way they wanted it. I filed a police report and pretty much accepted that we would never see the bike again. Then yesterday, one of my son’s friends saw a grown man riding the bike in the park. She sent me the video and I knew right away it was his. Immediately, I called Taylor PD and Officer Newell was on it. He spent several hours looking for the guy and was about to give up and head back to the station, when out of the corner of his eye he spotted the bike. After speaking with the man, he even convinced him to put my son’s original seat back on the bike. To say we were happy is an understatement. Thank you to Taylor PD for all that you do for our small town that’s not so small anymore.”
