HUTTO – The Hutto Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously voted to name Dr. Raúl Peña as lone finalist for district superintendent. The announcement came at a special- called meeting Aug. 10 at the Administration Building Board Room, 200 College Street.

Show and prove: preseason football is back

Area football teams are set to take the field on Friday night as Taylor High School, Thrall High School and Granger High School all have preseason scrimmages. St. Mary’s Catholic School scrimmages on Saturday morning, while Hutto High School will be able to have full-contact practice as a large school that day.

The 14th Annual Amazing Women event was held at the Dickey-Givens Community Center Sunday, July 16. This was a testimonial event where three Amazing Women honorees shared stories of their life challenges and how their faith guided them as they entered a storm, were in a storm and were just getting out of a storm.

PIPELINE TO SUCCESS

A pipeline has been formed that is designed to make plumbing a more attractive career path for young students. S&D Plumbing and Coppera Plumbing and Commercial Services reached agreements with the Department of Labor to be able to offer pre-apprenticeships and registered apprenticeships at local high schools.
