Taylor City officials are urging citizens to practice a home fire escape plan and check their smoke detectors for Fire Prevention Week, October 9-15, 2022. This week has been observed the Sunday through Saturday period in which October 9th falls since 1925.

An annual community tradition, the Pumpkin Patch at First United Methodist Church, is fun for the entire family. There will be many photo opportunities, plus craft items and baked goods for sale, and of course, pumpkins.

HUTTO – Hutto ISD has announced the Hippos of the month for September. It was a day of memories of learning to read with “Dick, Jane and Sally” readers, and having your own brown leather wallet, despite being in the first grade. These reminiscences and more were shared during a special reunion between former Northside Elementary School teacher, Lois Luedtke, now 85, and eight of her 34 first-grade students from the class of 1959-60 Saturday, Sept.

Prior to Legacy Early College High School, Taylor ISD had a second high school – O.L. Price.

To build transportation corridors that meet the needs for future generations, you need to plan far enough out in advance. Such was the message shared by Robert ‘Bob’ Daigh, senior director of infrastructure for Williamson County, at the monthly luncheon sponsored by the Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce Sept.

Ridership may not be as strong in Taylor, but city leaders want to expand local transportation services in anticipation of expected growth. At the regular meeting of the Taylor City Council Sept. 22, city leaders had the opportunity to hear a presentation from Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS) General Manager David Marsh.

At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, neighborhoods throughout Taylor will celebrate National Night Out in an effort to lower crime rates locally. Residents are asked to turn on their front porch light and spend the evening with neighbors, police, elected officials, firefighters and many others. Neighborhoods throughout the city will host special events such as block parties and cookouts. Public safety servants from Taylor will visit the different events.
