Community called to help paint county mural
Community called to help paint county mural

GEORGETOWN – Williamson County and the city of Georgetown are inviting the public to help paint a new mural celebrating the county and city’s 175th birthday. The mural by artist Yasaman Mehrsa was selected after an open call for submissions by Georgetown’s Arts and Culture Board and approved by the Williamson County Commissioners Court. The mural will be located on the side of the county’s tax office building, 904 S. Main Street in Georgetown. The public is invited to help the artist paint the mural Friday, March 10, and Saturday, March 11, from noon to 4 p.m.

HUTTO – This past weekend, Hutto Middle School played host to teams from across the region as elementary and middle school students showed off their skills in the VEX Robotics State Championship. Five teams from Hutto Middle School and one team from Howard Norman Elementary earned top scores and will next compete for the title of World Champions.

Taylor FD seeks federal aid for staffing boost

A federal grant program may be an answer to the city’s current inadequate staffing levels for the Taylor Fire Department. At the March 9 Taylor City Council meeting, officials will consider approving a grant application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant program, which could provide the city with funds for nine additional positions for three years to meet minimum staffing stan- dards of the National Fire Protection Association.
