Students in Taylor ISD will soon enjoy riding five new buses, thanks to a grant awarded by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. “I received an email with information about the Texas Clean School Bus Program,” said Carl Caldwell, TISD Transportation Director.

Community called to help paint county mural

GEORGETOWN – Williamson County and the city of Georgetown are inviting the public to help paint a new mural celebrating the county and city’s 175th birthday. The mural by artist Yasaman Mehrsa was selected after an open call for submissions by Georgetown’s Arts and Culture Board and approved by the Williamson County Commissioners Court. The mural will be located on the side of the county’s tax office building, 904 S. Main Street in Georgetown. The public is invited to help the artist paint the mural Friday, March 10, and Saturday, March 11, from noon to 4 p.m.

Hippos have their day
Hippos have their day

HUTTO – A herd of hippos thundered through city hall Wednesday as Hutto celebrated World Hippo Day. Hundreds of people attended the event, many in hippo-themed clothing or costume. A 15-foottall inflatable hippo named Happy greeted visitors and was the star of the selfies, while volunteers from the city, the chamber of commerce, the police department and the school district passed out hippo-shaped cookies, bags of candies and popcorn, and hippo themed activities.

City, Good Life Taylor to unveil Percussion Park this weekend

Kids of all ages will soon get a chance to march, play and sing to the beat of their own drum. This weekend, the city of Taylor’s Parks and Recreation Department and Good Life Taylor will host a free ribbon cutting ceremony for the recently completed Percussion Park at 10 a.m.
