Dickey Day raises awareness about healthcare opportunities and feeds the community The Dickey Museum and Multipurpose Center hosted Dr. Dickey Day Health Fair & Feast of Sharing, its annual celebration of the birthday and legacy of public health advocate Dr.

Saying they wish to promote inclusivity, city officials have approved a second holiday parade in downtown Taylor on the same day, time and route as a traditional “family-values” procession showcasing biblical themes.

St. John’s Lutheran Church will host its 43 annual Advent Fair from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the church, located at 30650 State Highway 95, one mile north of Bartlett. At the fair, visitors can enjoy a silent and live auction, which will start at 6 p.m., featuring handmade and donated items for holiday gifts, including quilts, wreaths, wood projects and more. For $12 per plate, attendees can enjoy a turkey-anddressing dinner prepared by church members from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., a country store, featuring crafts, home-baked goods, casseroles and canned items, as well as St. John Lutheran Church parishioners’ famous creamcheese breads, which will only have a limited availability at the fair.

The Farmers Market is typically every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The sun was shining, and the kegs were flowing Saturday for a good cause. About 80 runners/beer enthusiasts turned out for the fifth annual Taylor Veterans 5K Beer Run hosted by the American Legion Graham D.

Children at Taylor Independent School District’s Child Development Center, which serves children ages six weeks to three years of age, recently celebrated the grandparents of their community by inviting these loved ones to their school for a special time together.

Construction kicked off Monday for a number of improvements to the city’s downtown. Projects will include striping for additional parking spaces, updated landscaping, signage, and the installation of permanent street features on the northwest corner of Second and Main streets.
