Property taxes can be lowered by keeping bees

An upcoming beekeeping school will discuss how property taxes on small acreages can now be lowered by keeping bees on the property. Texas law allows bees and bee hives to qualify for reducing property taxes on plots ranging from 5 to 20 acres, similar to livestock or raising hay.

Council selected recipients of TCMA council of the year award

The Taylor City Council has been selected as the 2022 Texas City Management Association (TCMA) City Council of the Year. The TCMA City Council of the Year award recognizes and honors outstanding city councils that have made significant contributions to local government in Texas. The award will be presented during the TCMA Annual Conference in June.

The Taylor Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) recently received the Business Facilities Silver Award. The award was presented to the TEDC was presented the award for Samsung Electronics’ new state of the art, semi-conductor manufacturing facility in Taylor.

MUSICAL CHAIRS

The Association of Texas Small School Bands regions 18 and 26 held their region band clinic and concert Jan. 28-29. Earning seats in the symphonic band were Max Finn, first chair baritone saxophone; Kennedy Yanez, third chair flute; and Trace Karch, third chair tuba. Noah Hammack earned second chair in concert band on euphonium. Sarah Burke from Blinn college was the symphonic band clinician andconductor, and Mike Lewis, of Burnet, led the concert band.
