Samsung’s Taylor interns start up
Twenty-three Taylor ISD students began a six-weeks paid summer internship at Samsung on June 13. Representing both Legacy Early College and Taylor High School, the interns spent their first day in orientation, learning about the company and its operations.

After an Excessive Heat Warning this past weekend, Taylor might stay out of triple digits for the remainder of the week. The Taylor Texas Weather Network forecasts high temperatures in the upper 90s through at least Sunday, June 19.

Phone scam claims to be from county
The Williamson County District Clerk’s Office wants to warn residents in Williamson and surrounding counties about a phone scam that was reported to that office. People have been receiving calls from someone who claims to be a county official or law enforcement officer telling the victim that he or she has failed to appear for jury duty and is threatening arrest by failure to appear.

ROTARY HEARS FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Rotary Club of Taylor heard from Commander Joseph Branson of the Taylor Police and victim services coordinator Priscilla Morena of the Taylor Police Department during the Rotary meeting at Sirloin Stockade in Taylor June 9. Branson talked about measures taken such as cameras in regards to monitoring school safety, and Morena spoke on helping victims of domestic abuse. Hutto chief receives award
Hutto’s police chief has been credited with an initiative on school safety. Chief Jeff Chief Jeff Yarbrough recently received the 2022 Law Enforcement Award for Professional Achievement from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement for the creation of a school safety model called the Four Pillars of School Policing.

Williamson County Precinct 4 Constable Paul Leal was selected by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) to receive the 2022 State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Award for Public Service.

Outdoor burning is prohibited in unincorporated Williamson County effective immediately. On June 14, County Judge Bill Gravell issued an order declaring a local state of disaster for Williamson County.

cheers to 50 YEARS
The Williamson County Retired Teachers Association (WCRTA) celebrated their 50th anniversary June 10 at their June meeting. Held in the Taylor ISD Event Center, the retired teachers received a proclamation from the state of Texas and celebrated with banners, balloons, cake and a toast to the past 50 years with excitement about the future.
