District drops tax rate HUTTO – Hutto Independent School District board of trustees adopted a fiscal year 2022-23 tax rate that is $0.1854 lower than the current year’s rate. The 18.5 cent drop results in a total that is also lower than the no new revenue rate. 08/29/2023 10:17 PM

Council approves FY ’24 budget
Taylor has a brand-new budget for Fiscal Year 2024, featuring funds for additional emergency services personnel, a 3% cost-of-living increase for staff, an increase in the homestead exemption and plans to get started on a new $53 million municipal building that will house City Hall, the Police Department and Municipal Court. 08/26/2023 04:23 PM

BACKING INNOVATION
The partnership between Samsung Austin Semiconductor and Taylor Independent School District added another chapter. Vandalism cuts into local laundromat’s air conditioning
A slice from a butter knife may have caused a local laundromat up to $40,000 in damages. Skyline Laundry, located in the Taylor Plaza Shopping Center, had to temporarily close down due to safety concerns after its air conditioning units went out. 08/26/2023 04:23 PM

Petition aims to reverse council pay increase
A local resident is starting a petition concerning a recent ordinance from Taylor City Council. Terry Burris, who has lived in Taylor for 19 years, is attempting to organize enough signatures to garner a referendum on the council members’ decision to give themselves a pay raise. 08/26/2023 04:23 PM

Council reprimands mayor
HUTTO – Mayor Mike Snyder received an official reprimand from the city for posting a list of mortgage banks used by council members on social media.
