This Saturday, Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25, the Cowboy’s Professional Rodeo Association will host the Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo, held annually, at the WCSP Arena, 1600 CR 305, Jarrell. This rodeo includes some of the top cowboys from across the United States.

The rebirth of the parade drew a crowd in the downtown area. There were 15 participants in the parade including four cars and five walking entries along with Taylor police and firefighters.
Parading to freedom

Although Juneteenth was first recognized as a federal holiday in 2021, the Taylor community has hosted events to celebrate the historic day. This year, the celebrations spanned over two days, and included the return of the Juneteenth parade.

METT Summit Series: Workforce development

ELGIN — Public and private partnerships and planning are key to meeting workforce needs and developing vibrant communities for small and large businesses alike in the Manor, Elgin and Taylor area. This was the theme of a panel discussion of experts in business, education and government at the first ever METT Summit held at the Elgin Recreation Center May 18, which was organized by the Manor, Elgin and Taylor chambers of commerce.

Suspected gunman arrested

A man suspected of stalking down a street, repeatedly firing a rifle and then shooting at police surrendered peacefully after a tense late-night standoff, investigators said. No one was hurt and officers never returned fire, officials said.
