In the Taylor Press published May 14, there a notice by the Taylor ISD board of trustees regarding creation of a reinvestment zone. This appears to be the first step to give Samsung a reduction in taxes on land purchased after the November 2021 tax incentive agreement. According to news reports, the original 2021 agreement by the Taylor school board reduced the amount that Samsung will pay in taxes to Taylor ISD by around $300 million over 10 years. This is in addition to 85 to 90% reduction in taxes over 20 years by Williamson County and 85 to 92.5% reduction in taxes over 30 years by the city of Taylor.

“A picture is worth a thousand words.” — Old adage considered cliché by some. For one whose lifetime has been spent behind a camera, it still speaks volumes for me.

Oh it’s just Arthritis

Have you ever thought that you are suffering from arthritis, or others tell you, “It’s just arthritis you’re getting old?” Just because you are aging doesn’t mean you automatically come down with arthritis. There are many different types of joint pain that one can have that are not arthritis.

It’s Mother’s Day weekend, and I feel compelled to write a column related to that. The headline is something I always tease my mom about.

Jesus in the Feast of First Fruits
Jesus in the Feast of First Fruits

Welcome to week three of learning about the feasts and festivals ordained by God! Last week, we moved from Passover to the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which Passover initiates. Unleavened Bread is all about removing leaven—yeast—sin from our lives. Jesus came 2,000 years ago to fulfill the feast and make possible a way for us to be free and rejoin the Creator. I’ll introduce the third event (First Fruits) and connect it to the first two feasts and Jesus’ fulfillment.

Plot twist!

When unexpected things happen, I often get myself into a frenzy. I read something once in which the author said that when something disastrous happened, she would simply throw up her hands and cry, “Plot Twist!”
