We had lots of shoutouts submitted, and we want to share them with you. No matter if it’s food or service, Taylor has wonderful businesses who take good care of their customers.

I moved here searching for a place to call home. I wanted to leave city life and move to a place where I could get to know my neighbors and participate in community building. The rainbow ducks I saw gave me hope that Taylor was a progressive, safe place for my family (even though we would probably be the only Jewish family in town).

Dear Editor, I would like to address a comic recently published in Taylor Press (Sunday, March 12, 2023). This comic, while in the opinion section, is in such poor taste that I felt that I should write to you.

The death of a Leander High School graduate from a fentanyl overdose has prompted state Rep. Terry Wilson, R-Georgetown, to file a bill that would require 10 hours of education annually concerning the dangers of the drug to students in sixth grade and up, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

To witness bipartisanship at the Texas Capitol, look to the lawmakers who are working to improve open government laws. Legislators from both political parties are igniting interest in transparency and creating the opportunity for all lawmakers to protect the people’s right to know.

Under legislation prioritized by House Speaker Dade Phelan, every Texas school would have an armed police officer, and aspiring teachers would receive extra support. The Dallas Morning News reported the bill would also provide $15,000 in annual funding for safety measures for each school in the state.
