Some of those killed in action in World Wars I and II

17th Airborne Division Paratrooper Carl Oscar Edward Carlson was born June 18, 1922, and killed in action March 24, 1945, within weeks of the end of World War II on May 8, 1945. The division, “The Golden Talons,” was an airborne infantry unit of the Army with the motto, “Thunder from Heaven.” Operation Plunder began the evening of March 23.

TAX ABATEMENT ZONE CONSIDERED FOR DATA CENTER HUTTO – City council will consider the approval of a tax abatement agreement with Hutto Data Center Campus LLC, a joint venture between Skybox Datacenters, LLC and Prologis Inc. at their July 20 meeting. The venture owns about 220 acres in the 1,400 acre Hutto Megasite located along State Highway 79.

Taylor Police Chief Henry Fluck said there are no new updates on the search for a missing Taylor man. Taylor police are working to locate Adrian Zachary, 45, of Taylor.

Two distressed egrets saved at Murphy Park

It took a combined, collaborative effort to save distressed egrets at Murphy Park. The Taylor Police Department teamed up with the Taylor Fire Department and Taylor Animal Control Thursday, June 29, in a rescue effort that saved the lives of two egrets in the lake.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY – A car crash Saturday left two people dead along with two burning vehicles. The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the two deaths happened in Williamson County just south of Coupland Saturday, July 1.

Dickey Museum set to get grant to rebuild

The Dickey Museum & Multipurpose Center, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving community well-being through promotion of the living legacy of Dr. James Lee Dickey, announced today that St. David’s Foundation has awarded a grant of $500,000 toward the reconstruction of a replica of Dr. Dickey’s former home in Taylor, which was destroyed by fire last year on July 10.
