Every Sunday, Black Sparrow Music Parlor will be opening their doors for fresh mimosas, cold brew and beer from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 113 W. Second St. The stage will be open for attendees with instruments. Outside food will be allowed for this low-key community event.

Weight-loss Group

The Taylor Take Off Pounds Sensibly Chapter 1343 will have in-person meetings for their weight-loss support group Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. at Grace Place, 301 Grace Lane. Members are recommitting to their health journeys and invite others who have struggled with their weight to join them at the meeting. Attendees should use the office entrance to Grace Place.

Taylor Rotary Club Meals on Wheels The Taylor Rotary Club delivers Meals on Wheels the third Thursday of the month at noon out of the Taylor Senior Center, Lone Star Circle of Care, 1301 W.

Fourth St. They serve Taylor and Thrall.

American Legion Post 39

American Legion Graham D. Luhn Post 39 holds monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at its post building, 1310 Sycamore St. Veterans as well as American Legion members are invited to attend. For more, call 512713-4543.

Taylor Area Businesswomen The Taylor Area Businesswomen’s luncheon meetings are held at noon on the fourth Tuesday of the month at Gatti’s Pizza, 2708 N. Car Seat Check Event

Thursday, Aug. 24 — From 9 a.m. to noon, Taylor Fire Department will host a car seat checking event to have car seats inspected for proper use and installation, 200 Washburn St. Car seats will also be available for those in need. Tee off with the Lions

Saturday, Aug. 26 — The Taylor Lions Club will host a golf tournament at Mustang Creek Golf Course in Taylor.

The event is a four-person select shot tournament. Entry is $125 per person, which includes green fees, golf cart, meal, beverage, tickets and prizes. The early bird special is $100 if paid before Aug. 1. Mulligans are available for $5 each, limited to two per person. National Dog Day

Saturday, August 26 — From noon to 8 p.m., Texas Beer Company will host a celebration for National Dog Day with $4 TBC’s specialty K9 lager on tap, 1331 W. Second St. A portion of the proceeds from every K9 pint or six-pack goes to K9s for Warriors, an organization that adopts dogs from high-kill shelters, trains them as service dogs and provides them for veterans with PTSD.

Granger Annual Bazaar

Sunday, Sept. 3 — From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church will host Granger’s Annual Bazaar at Parish Hall, 500 W. Davilla, Granger.

An optional mass begins at 10 a.m., 100 N. Brazos St. The celebration includes a barbecue and sausage dinner, live auction and games including a cake walk, ring toss for sodas, toy booth and fishpond.

Revive Women’s Conference Saturday, Sept. 9 — From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., The First Baptist Church will host their first REVIVE Women’s Conference at Main Street Intermediate, 3101 N. Main St. There will be six speakers all sharing stories related to the “Revive” theme.

St. Mary’s Homecoming Celebration

Sunday, Sept. 10 — From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., St. Mary’s Catholic School will host a fall festival and Homecoming Celebration at the St. Mary’s Parish and School Grounds, 304 E. Fifth St. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a $15 barbecue plate will be available with an optional dessert for donation. There will be live music, concessions, raffle drawing, live auction, games and a silent auction.

Thrall Street Dance

Saturday, Sept. 16 — From 6 p.m. to midnight, enjoy a small town, summertime dance with live music from Kenny Orts & the no chance band, G.

Rollie Revival and The Other Band out of Thorndale. There will be some fair-type booths, burgers and beer. Proceeds go to the Thrall Volunteer Fire Department Hall and local ESD #10 firefighters. Free admission.

SPAY-ghetti Dinner & Dance 2023 Saturday, Sept. 23 — From 5 to 9 p.m., Taylor SPJST Lodge 29 will host the 3rd annual Texas Critter Crusaders SPAY-ghetti Dinner & Dance, 5025 FM 619. Proceeds go toward TCC’s mission to provide medical and preventative care to local animals at Taylor Animal Shelter. Dine-in and full event tickets are $30. To go meal tickets are $20.

SPJST BBQ Cook-Off

10th Annual Main Street Car Show

Saturday, Oct. 28 — From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visit the largest car show in central Texas in downtown Taylor hosted by Main Street Car Show. Guests can peruse downtown shops and cool off with cold drinks. Tickets are $17.
