The moon took center stage during the annular eclipse at Taylor Public Library Oct. 14 around noon. Residents got the chance to safely watch the eclipse.

Dario Zelasko-Jimenez remembered it was happening Friday, but forgot the day-of until the dimly lit atmosphere tipped him off.

“Well, that’s weird,” he said, after almost pass- ing it off as a cloud. “I remember just all of a sudden it got dark a little bit … I remember rushing anywhere to get the glasses.”

Luckily, a Google search led him to the library which had glasses left over.

Pastor George Qualley was in the parking lot of the library helping spectators view the eclipse through a telescope.

“People were just amazed and in awe of the dim light they were experiencing from the eclipse,” Zelasko-Jimenez said.

Although Zelasko-Jiminez was late to the event, he still spent an hour looking at the eclipse with the glasses, taking whatever time that was left to “at least get a glimpse.”

Attendees waited in line to see the eclipse through Pastor George Qualley’s telescope.

A few attendees leaned back in chairs to relax into the eclipse spectacle.
