Texas Governor Greg Abbott announces proposed legislation on Wednesday that would develop a consortium with the goal of driving more Silicon chip manufacturers to Texas.

The consortium is comprised of Texas’ Colleges and Universities which will do Research and Development in various areas with that singular focus.

And, with his continued drive to get the Texas Chips act passed, Governor Abbott is clear on Texas’ place in this race he said, "Texas is the birthplace of the integrated circuit, and we have since risen as the number one state in America for semiconductor manufacturing." He added that Texas had already added billions this year with Samsung and various other semi-conductor deals.

When we asked how much money would be set aside for the Consortium cost, the Governor’s office referred us to Representative Greg Bonnen’s office. He is the author of the Texas Chips Bill. We are awaiting his response.
