Rhae Harriet Beaty Hall

Rhae Harriet Beaty Hall

With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Rhae Harriet Beaty Hall. She went to be in the presence of the Lord peacefully Jan. 13, 2024, at the age of 85.

She was born April 23, 1938, in Temple, to Raymond Pope Beaty and Annie LaVelle Hill Beaty. She was sister to Sharon Ann Beaty Long of Granger, mother to Steven Earl Hall of Clermont, Florida, and Michael Raymond (Janie) of Leesburg, Florida, grandmother to Sarah Elizabeth Hall, Elysse Rhae-Ann Hall Castro (Jorge) and Thomas Earl Hall (Rachel). After high school, she married Edwin Earl Hall in 1956. The couple moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, and El Paso when Edwin was in the military. They moved to Schenectady, New York, before settling on the east coast of Central Florida in 1964.

She was a homemaker and part taxi driver, driving her boys and others to various sports practices and games. She also was a substitute teacher, much to the chagrin of her boys. As her boys got older, she pursued her love of education by attaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at age 42 and a Master’s Degree from the University of Central Florida at 45.

She went to work fulltime as an educator. She taught various subjects, worked with special needs children and was the dreaded in-school suspension teacher. She taught in-school suspension with a firm hand and a stare that would make anyone freeze.

During her 17-year tenure at Galaxy Middle School, she was the Teacher of the Year in 2001. While teaching, she met lifelong friends Sharon Wade and John Aldridge. She retired after 20 years with the Volusia County School System.

Known for her quick wit, intelligence and southern charm, she was ever graceful to all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed reading, cooking, entertaining family and friends, collecting DVD movies, researching family history, birding and humanities. Her continued pursuit of knowledge and sense of wonder inspired those who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held in April 2024 in Granger.
