Laverne Fay Haag
Laverne was born Jan. 24, 1933, in Taylor, to the late Fritz and Clara (Krieg) Caninenberg. She spent her childhood growing up on family farm east of Taylor with four older sisters and one twin brother.
She graduated from Mary Hardin Baylor with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration.
She was married to Marvin Henry Haag.
She worked for many years for the Federal Government Soil Conservation Service in Temple and State Health Department in Austin, retiring at 80 years of age.
She was a founding member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Cameron, and was very active serving on the Board of Education and a Sunday school teacher until 89 years of age.
Laverne is survived by her children, Susan of Austin, Steven of Cameron and Brian of Houston; grandchildren, Austin of Leander, Ryan of The Colony and Mason of Hempstead; great-grandchildren, Millia and Remi of Leander, Grayson and Hannah of The Colony and Kash of Hempstead.
A gravesite service will be held Monday, Jan. 22, at 1 p.m. at the City of Taylor Cemetery.
