Albert Joseph Gola
Albert Joseph Gola
Albert was born Dec. 22, 1937, in Taylor. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Taylor, but was forced to drop out in the eighth grade to help on the family farm after his father was injured.
At the age of 17, he was hired at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Arlington, where he worked for 31 years and retired at the age of 48. He chose to spend the rest of his life doing what he loved most – growing vegetables in his garden, fishing and hunting. Albert loved working outdoors in his garden.
On March 24, 1962, Albert J. Gola married Patricia Ann Ables in Gladewater. Together, Albert and Patricia created their family and raised two beautiful daughters, Gina Gail Gola of Taylor, and Cherie Ann Gola-Rewis (Mark Owen Rewis) of Grand Prairie. They have one granddaughter, Leslie Ann Rewis of Gosport, Indiana, and three grandsons, Mark Owen Rewis II, Matthew John Rewis and Mitchell James Rewis of Grand Prairie.
Preceding Albert in death are his father and mother, Frank and Annie Gola (Zgarba) of Taylor; sister, Mary Ann Urbanek (Alan) of Taylor; and brother, Frankie Gola.
He is survived by wife, Patricia Gola (Ables) of Taylor; Gina Gola of Taylor; daughter, Cherie Rewis (Mark) of Grand Prairie; four grandchildren; sister, Amalie Rozacky (Edward) of Brenham; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a graveside service Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory could be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Taylor, the American Heart Association or make a donation for research on Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease. Plant a tree in his memory will help make our planet a better place. Patricia, Gina and Cherie wish to thank everyone for their prayers during this difficult time.
