Gaynell Faye Tindall

Gaynell Faye Tindall

Gaynell Tindall passed away on April 4, 2025, in Temple, Texas. Faye, as she was known, died with her family by her side.

She was the daughter of Oda Faye (Cooper) Tindall and John Edwin Tindall. She was born in Houston, TX on October 8, 1942.

During her early years, Faye lived with her Uncle John and Aunt Thelma Seibold while her mother worked in Galveston. She also lived with her grandparents, Elizabeth (Lydia) and Isaac Cooper in Minerva, Texas. She adored her grandfather Cooper, and the feeling was mutual.

She later moved to San Antonio when her mother married JD Hamil who served in the U.S. Army.

She loved traveling from an early age, particularly enjoying the time her family lived in Germany where she learned some German.

It was in Germany that her sister, Jeanette, was born.

When the family returned to the States, they lived in El Paso.

After living in El Paso, the family moved to San Antonio where Faye graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. Faye began working at the age of 16 at Sears in the gift wrap department.

She was highly creative and made exceptionally beautiful packages. After graduating high school, she worked at Kelly Air Force Base in civil service.

She subsequently began taking courses at San Antonio Community College and later obtained a bachelor’s degree in education from Tarleton State University. Faye taught kindergarten in Sanderson ISD and fifth grade in Cotulla ISD.

Thereafter, she was employed by Continental Airlines as a ticket agent for more than 15 years.

During this period, she visited various sites around the world with friends and family.

She enjoyed excursions with her nieces, Tonya and Karla. Faye enjoyed cake decorating, catering, and hosting whenever possible.

She loved playing Solitaire and the challenge of putting puzzles together.

Later in life, Faye had many distinct positions, but none were as fulfilling as her time spent traveling or spending time with her extended family, Gene, Virginia, Cherrica, and Cheyenne Horton of Somerset; and close friend Nancy Moland of Round Rock.

Faye loved being a grandma to Cherrica and Cheyenne and most recently, she cherished knowing she would soon be a great grandmother to baby Felicity Faye.

Whenever possible, Faye supported Cherrica and Cheyenne’s school activities, ice skating, ballet performances, and graduations. In Taylor, she became close friends with Tommie and JoNell Gage and welcomed their visits and phone calls.

Faye is preceded in death by her mother, Oda Faye Hamil; and stepfather, J D Hamil.

She is survived by her sister, Jeanette Potts, and her husband, Danny, of Taylor.

Additionally, she is survived by her nieces Tonya Cabeldue (husband Gilbert and family Daniel, Tristan, and Madison) of Pflugerville; and Karla Lopez (husband Ray and family Colby and Dezirae) of Thrall.

She lived humbly and will be missed by her loved ones. May she Rest In Peace.

Graveside services were held at Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 N. IH 35, Pflugerville, Texas on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.
