David was born in Junction, Texas on March 1, 1942, to Jim and Alva Adams. He was a graduate of Georgetown High School where he played football and basketball and ran track.

David was the quarterback and threw the first touchdown in the Georgetown Birkelbach football stadium, which was the new stadium.

In 1961, David married Elma Dorothy Perrin of Hutto. David was 19 and Dorothy was 16 when they eloped in Mexico and returned home all in one day.

They told their parents three months later. They were married for 63 years.

David retired from the Department of Public Safety in Austin in 1995 after 30 years of service. David was a founding member of the Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown.

His passions were fishing, basketball, softball, and Baylor football.

David also coached his kids little league sports as well as church league sports through Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin.

David was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1990. He was very athletic and continued to play full court basketball until he could no longer stand unassisted.

He was a fighter and outlived the doctor’s predictions by many years.

David is survived by his wife, Dorothy Adams; his sons, Mark and wife Mandy of Adkins, Shannon of Austin, and Stephen and wife Ericka of Pflugerville; his brother, Gary Adams of Birmingham, Alabama; and his grandchildren, Tanette, Justin, Austin, Davis, Christian, Corinne, Aubrey, Julia, and Olivia.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Jim and Alva Adams; his grandparents, Charles and Ann Osborn of Georgetown; and his granddaughter, Madison Adams.

A visitation for David will be held Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 4-8 p.m. at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628. A funeral service will occur Friday, March 28, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Hutto City Cemetery, 100 Co Rd 135, Hutto, Texas 78634.
