Michael Brunner Grau

Brunner grew up in Taylor, where he was active in First Presbyterian Church, ran school track, and played drums in the school band. After graduating from Taylor High in 1963, he earned a Civil Engineering degree from Texas A&M in 1969.
On Aug. 31, 1969, he married his high school sweetheart, Cynthia (Cindy) Eschberger. They settled in Taylor, where they built a home and raised a family.
His career spanned nearly 40 years in public service, including work with the Texas Highway Department, the City of Austin, and Freese & Nichols.
Brunner was known for his generosity, quick wit, and deep faith. He was active at St. Paul Lutheran Church and dedicated to Scout Troop 167, helping renovate the Scout Hut even after his son completed scouting.
He cherished time with his four children, whether playing tennis, swimming, or camping, he found unique ways to connect with each of them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, inlaws Elvy and Mildred Eschberger, and sisterin- law Lori Eschberger. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Cindy; brother Garry (Roberta); sister Carlyn; children Tiffany (Richie) Charles, Courtney (Marc) Trujillo, Micah (Mallory) Grau, and Priscilla (Connor) McDonald; seven grandchildren and four nephews.
Papa, as he was lovingly called by his children and grandchildren, leaves a legacy of faith, generosity, and love. Services will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor on March 17, with visitation at 1 p.m. and services at 2 p.m., followed by burial at Taylor City Cemetery.
