Allen James Doubrava
friends. He was born March 21, 1944, in Houston to Bob and Annie Doubrava.
As a young boy, he grew up next door to his cousin, Johnnie Bollom. Later, Allen moved with his parents to Taylor, where he graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School. After graduation, Allen was drafted into the Army and became a Vietnam War veteran.
Upon his discharge, he joined the National Guard, serving for several years.
Allen also worked as a printer for The University of Texas, where he eventually retired.
He married Marguerite Flanagan, and they shared many years together until her death in 2009.
He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing, and cherished spending time with his family and friends, reminiscing about years of memories. Allen also had a soft spot for his pets and dearly loved his dogs.
In addition to his wife, Allen is preceded in death by his parents, several relatives and friends. Survivors include his stepchildren Melissa, Richard, Rachel and Donna, as well as many other family members and close friends.
A visitation and reciting of the rosary were Friday, Jan. 10, at Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos G. Parker Blvd. N.W. in Taylor. A funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
