On July 1, 1966, he married Gladys Marie Wolbrueck of Taylor, and the couple settled in Austin. Larry attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied accounting. His professional career included working for several accounting firms before opening his own financial and tax service office.
Later, he served as an auditor and accountant for the state of Texas until his retirement in 2005.
Larry was a devoted husband and father. As a couple, Larry and Gladys took great satisfaction in supporting their daughters, including being active band parents for the LBJ High School Jaguar Band, helping to transport equipment, chaperoning band trips and coordinating the band’s fundraising booth at Austin Aqua Fest.
Larry and Gladys were beloved band parents from 1982-1990.
Larry had a passion for travel, especially annual summer camping trips with his family across the United States and Canada. He spent many weekends camping at nearby state parks.
After his wife retired from teaching, the couple continued to travel. They especially enjoyed the Mediterranean and Baltic Sea cruises. An avid genealogist and Civil War history enthusiast, Larry also cherished his time with his beloved basset hounds, participating in events such as the Mighty Texas Dog Walk and neighborhood Fourth of July parades.
A devoted Texas Longhorn football fan, Larry’s enthusiasm for life was evident to all who knew him.
