Michael Ray Kattner, of Thrall, passed away Oct. 7, 2023, in Round Rock.

Mike was born Jan. 17, 1956, in Taylor, to Arthur and Maybelline Kattner.

Mike graduated from Thrall High School in 1974. Mike for his father’s business, Kattner Automotive, starting in 1977 after working three years at Westinghouse in Round Rock with his brothers.

He was exactly like his father, who really enjoyed working very hard his whole life.

Mike was an extremely gifted mechanic and could work on anything that had an engine. He was always very generous with his time and would try to help anyone in the area that was needing assistance.

Mike could build or fix anything, an amazing skill he had. He acquired the business in 1988, and continued to operate the business with his mother for 30 plus more years.

Mike was very blessed and provided to care for his mother for many years. Mike will always be remembered for all his heart that he shared with his friends and family.

He was never scared to tackle new opportunities and always did everything with honesty and integrity. He truly loved his friends and if you knew him, you knew it. He will be missed dearly by all that knew him. Mike was a beautiful person inside and out.

He is survived by his mother, Maybelline Kattner; brothers, Ronnie and David Kattner; and nieces, Deiora Stinnett and Danielle Jones.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Thrall. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor.

Contributions in memory of Michael can be made to The American Heart Association or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Thrall.

Serving as pallbearers are Preston Jones, Dan Stinnett, Bruce Neitsch, Albert Barber, Eddie Wallace, Brad Kirschner, Clay Larochelle and Lonnie Jones.
