Raymond James Stefek

Raymond James Stefek died on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. Raymond was one of 10 children raised in Granger, Texas. He was one of the most respected and well-known tractor mechanics in the Central Texas area.

Raymond was married to the love of his life, Helen (Stuchly) Stefek, in 1959, and they were married for 60 years.

After they were married, they settled in Taylor, Texas, where they raised six children.

Raymond was a strong and hard-working man.

He worked for over 25 years on tractors at Cantrell Oliver in Taylor.

He then started and operated his own tractor mechanic business for 20 years.

Raymond enjoyed the outdoors very much, such as hunting and fishing. Raymond loved to cook and barbecue. He was best known for his chicken noodle soup, fried chicken, brisket and homemade bread.

He enjoyed making homemade deer sausage, homemade pickles and sauerkraut with his children and grandchildren. Raymond enjoyed gardening and always had a big garden with a variety of vegetables. His favorite pastime was sitting on his patio swing and drinking a cold Old Milwaukee beer.

Raymond was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Helen; his parents, Joe J. and Mary (Knapek) Stefek; brothers, Joe E. Stefek, Emil Stefek, Bill Stefek, John Stefek, Jim Stefek; and sisters, Mary Strmiska and Lillian Schwertner.

He is survived by his six children, Elaine and Alvin Roznovak, Michael and Dawn Stefek, Greg and Tina Stefek, Sandra and Mitchell Caffey, Terry Stefek, Raymond and Jessica Stefek; and honorary sons, Dwayne and Paula Martin and T.J. Marshall. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Crystal (Jason) Staniszewski, Jennifer (Colbey) Bullock, Sabrina Stefek, Adam (Marcie) Roznovak, Tyler Stefek (Samantha Lopez), Tahlor Stefek, Madison Stefek, Tommy Hidrogo, Hannah Stefek, Hayden Stefek and Alyssa Stefek; great-grandchildren, Avery Staniszewski (Colby Langley), Caleb Staniszewski, Landyn Bullock and Grayson Roznovak; and greatgreat- granddaughter, Lyla Kay Langley. He is survived by his brother, George (Dorothy) Stefek. Pallbearers are Adam Roznovak, Tyler Stefek, Tommy Hidrogo, Hayden Stefek, Caleb Staniszewski and Landyn Bullock.

Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024 at Providence Funeral Home.

Funeral Service was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024 at Providence Funeral Home, followed by interment at the Taylor City

Cemetery.
