Jerry Wayne Cruz, Sr.
Jerry had a passion for the outdoors and was a huge sports fan. He dedicated much of his life to coaching and playing softball and baseball, but his greatest joy came from umpiring youth leagues, where he positively impacted countless young athletes. His love for family was unmatched, and he cherished every moment spent with them, especially at ball fields.
He is survived by his loving wife, Valerie Kay Cruz, and their three children: oldest son Jerry Wayne Cruz, Jr., and his wife, Ashlie Black; daughter Jerryca Virginia Kay Cruz; and youngest son Justin Wayne Cruz, and his wife, Christan Marie Cruz.
Jerry was also a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Jaycee Rhae Cruz, Jayden Fuchs, Conner Fuchs, Justin Wayne Cruz II, Paxton Robert Neal, Elijah Matthew Cruz and Moriah Grace Cruz.
Jerry is also survived by his brothers, Larry Cruz and Rene Munoz; his sister, Hilaria Medina; and Aunts Rosemary Hernandez and Sally Aldama.
A heavy equipment operator by profession, Jerry was known for his hard work, passion and dedication to those around him. He had a deep love for Texas country and Tejano music, enjoyed watching the “Chicago” series and “The Rookie,” and could always be found cheering for his favorite sports teams, including softball, baseball and football.
Jerry’s legacy will live on through the love he shared with his family and the many lives he touched through his generous spirit and unwavering support for others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
