Mary June Fross, 88, died on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, peacefully with her family by her side. Mary was born in Warren, Ohio on Aug. 28, 1936 and was raised in a convent in Canton, Ohio in her early life. Mary was eventually adopted in her teens by Jerome and Irene Alderman, who then moved to Pharr, Texas. It was there where Mary met Jim at a carhop. They were married in 1955.

Mary was a bookkeeper and secretary for several companies and organizations in the McAllen, Texas area throughout her life. Mary loved her church, First United Methodist Church of McAllen. She attended the Friendship Class and sang in the church choir every Sunday and loved being a youth director for many years. Mary was a devoted member of the Preceptor Beta Lambda Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, awarded “Girl of the Year.” Mary also served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and supported youth organizations. Most of all she loved her family, being involved in her children’s activities and spending many summers camping at South Padre Island, Garner State Park and Bastrop State Park.

Mary is preceded in death by her eldest son, James (Jimmy) O. Fross, II (age 24) and her husband, James (Jim) Olin Fross (age 72). She is survived by her children, Kimberly Fross of Taylor, Texas, and Michael Fross and Heidi Roberson of San Antonio, Texas.

A heartfelt thank you and appreciation to the staff of SPJST Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor, Texas, who took care of Mary the last six years.

There will be a memorial service in McAllen at Roselawn Cemetery, where she will be interred next to her husband, Jim, on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024 at 10 a.m.
