Mark Cochrane Harwell

Mark Cochrane Harwell

Three years and one month to the day of his cancer diagnosis, on Aug. 19, 2024, Mark Cochrane Harwell, 58, died. He and his family fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. The family is absolutely devastated by this loss.

Mark lived a rich, full life and had many lives and loves. He was a man of God, doting father, loving son, incredibly generous husband, caring teacher, coach, lifelong innovator, racecar driver, mentor, school board member, volunteer firefighter, planning and zoning commissioner, Lions Club member and the greatest friend you could ask for.

He is survived by his children Miranda, Mackenzie, Donovan and Alexandra; his wife of 22 years, Cynthia; his fur baby Cash (aka Wiggles); parents Saundra (David) Kuykendall and Wendell (Marina) Harwell; sister Daniella (John) Scott; niece Savanna (Michael) Scott; aunt Linda McFarlin; cousin Ian Kirk; in-laws Paul, Nancy and Kevin Towers; friend and mother of Miranda, Jammie (Michael) Schmunk; friend and father of Mackenzie, James (Kim) Barrington; uncle Matt (Gal) Kuykendall; brother Michael (Eve) Kuykendall and children, nieces, nephews, in-laws and so many friends that were family.

As Mark regularly explained, “We had family hedges, not a regular tree.”

Mark was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, his favorite Uncle Rob and many friends, including Travis.

Those two are up there in heaven working on cars together again.

A celebration of life is 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Saints Cyril & Methodius Recreation Center, or SSCM Hall, 500 W. Davilla St., Granger, Texas.

Light finger foods will be served, and desserts are appreciated.

A big thank you to MD Anderson Cancer Center for helping the family and community have these last three years with Mark.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family GoFundMe or gift cards to the meal train; links can be found on his obituary website at https://www.taylorprovidencefuneralhome. com/ obituary/mark-harwell.

Arrangements are under the director of Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos G. Parker Blvd. N.W. in Taylor, Texas.
