She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Mary Rathke, brothers Wilfred and Marvin Rathke, and sister Bernice Rathke Brooks.

Mary is survived by her niece Carolyn Brooks Marshall and nephews John Brooks (Molly), Glenn Brooks (Susan) and Ronald Rathke (Suzy). Other survivors include numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews.

Mary was known by friends and family as “Tootsie” because she loved Tootsie Roll candies as she grew up and the nickname stuck. After graduating from Taylor High School, she worked at McCrory’s Department Store, Taylor Pharmacy and Raez Grocery.

When her parents were in ill health, she was their primary caretaker. Mary loved children and taught Sunday School at St.

Paul Lutheran Church for many years.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug.

17 at Condra Funeral Home, 503 Talbot St. in Taylor, with Holly Harris and Glenn Brooks as officiants.

Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Brooks, Ronald Rathke, Shaun Wells, Steve Harris, Noah Harris, Luke Harris, Nathan Brooks and Chris Harris.
