Dolores “Dolly” Steinocher

Dolores “Dolly” Steinocher

Our beloved mom, grandmother and greatgrandmother, Dolores “Dolly” Steinocher, passed away May 26, 2024.

Dolly was born June 26, 1931, to Robert Mackenzie and Catherine “Gleason” Mackenzie, in Chicago, Illinois.

Dolly Mackenzie met the love of her life, Charles Steinocher in Chicago. After only knowing each other a couple of months they were engaged. They were married Oct. 21, 1950, and spent 62 wonderful years together.

Dolly was the heart of our home and family. She raised four children, Linda, Chuck, Patty and Suzanne in a happy and loving home. Dolly dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mom. Dolly excelled at motherhood and was always there for her family. She loved babies and children. Her face absolutely glowed when she was holding a baby. She made the most beautiful baby quilts for her grandchildren.

She loved to play games and was very competitive. A quality that some of her children and grandchildren inherited. She had a passion for bowling and loved being on the bowling league. Later in life her and Dad enjoyed going to Louisiana to gamble. Mom more than Dad. She was known to sneak out of her room during the night to hit the machines.

Mom was the heart and soul of our family and will be dearly missed.

Although we mourn Mom’s passing, we take solace in knowing that Mom has been reunited with her beloved husband, Charlie. Hopefully they are dancing in heaven. Rest in peace, Mom/ Grandma/ Mema.

Dolly was preceded in death by the love her life Charlie; her parents and her brothers, Robert and Jerry Mackenzie.

Mom is survived by her children, Linda Hunt, Chuck (Adrienne) Steinocher, Patricia Steinocher and Suzanne (Ronnie) Huber; grandchildren, Gary Lumpp, Kerry Lumpp, Joseph (Katy) Steinocher, Elizabeth Steinocher, Anna (JD) Spencer, Jimmie (Amanda) Vrabel and Jennie (Scott) Clark; great grandchildren, Levi, Emma, Ava (Joseph and Katy), John Ellis, Weston, Edith Rose (Anna and JD) and Brantley, Blakely (Jennie and Scott).

Pallbearers will be Joseph Steinocher, Jimmie Vrabel, Scott Clark and J.D. Spencer.

We would like to thank the wonderful caregivers (angels) at Truewood Merrill. During Mom’s lengthy stay with them they treated her with kindness, grace and loving care.
