Vera Lee Witte Hamann

Vera Lee Witte Hamann passed away peacefully in the hospital surrounded by family Feb. 23, 2024, at the age of 87.

Vera was born in Williamson County June 29, 1936, to Robert and Elizabeth Witte.

Vera was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother known as MeMaw and friend to so many.

She can be forever remembered for her love of faith, family, music, entertaining, crafts and floral work, dancing and playing dominoes. She was also famous for her card playing, especially Canasta.

Vera was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor and then later got married to the love of her life, Calvin, Dec. 12, 1954, at St. John’s Lutheran Church Richland.

She served in many different capacities with the legislature, working with numerous different governors and senators. She was also a member of the Richland Community Club, pianist and organist for her church where she also served on different church committees.

She was a proud farm wife and band parent, and supported the local 4-H youth of her community. She also worked at the ASC office.

In addition to her parents and husband, Vera was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharlyn Faye Hamann; one brother, Wilbert Witte; and sister-in-law, Alice.

She leaves behind her daughter, Brenda Kirchner and husband William. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Loren Kirchner and his wife Tamara, Letisha Mouser and her husband Randall and Lynette Suarez and her husband Jason; her pride and joy great-grandchildren, Tyler (T.J.) and Leianne Kirchner, Emalynn and Braelyn Mouser and Addalyn and Colton Suarez; as well as many extended family members and countless close friends.

The family would like to offer their most sincere gratitude for the care and compassion provided by all the staff and caregivers from Home Instead of Round Rock, Sage Valley Pflugerville and Heritage Lakes Pflugerville.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.

A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, March 3, at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Pflugerville.

Interment will follow immediately at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery.
