While most of her sixteen years in education has been in a traditional classroom setting, part of that time has been in non-traditional roles that centered around education such as Peace Corps, Rice University Civic Leadership, and Community-Based Entrepreneurship.

Windham was inspired to become a teacher after learning from educators at Thrall High School and Texas A&M University about the power of words.

“It’s that inspiration that guides my practice,” said Windham. “Before students leave my room every day, I remind them that the world needs their voice. I have the honor of helping them find it and use it with confidence, civility, empathy, and kindness.
