Taylor PD, Haciendo host Coffee with a Cop
The aroma of coffee beans brewing and the presence of officers from the Taylor Police Department made Haciendo Coffee Roasters the place to be Thursday morning.
Haciendo, located at 116 W. Sixth St. in Taylor, was the location for the quarterly Coffee with a Cop. The event, which has been happening since 2019, gave Taylor residents and Taylor police officers the opportunity to mingle.
“People like the environment and they enjoy getting to visit with police officers in a non-adversarial situation,” said Henry Fluck, Taylor Chief of Police. “It’s nice to be able to listen to the concerns they have.”
Fluck said Coffee with a Cop started in 2019. After a hiatus during the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, the event picked up again in 2021.

Residents and Taylor police officers shared conversation over cups of Joe during the quarterly Coffee with a Cop event Thursday morning at Haciendo Coffee Roasters in downtown Taylor.
“You can never predict the turnout,” Fluck said. “Sometimes, we get a really impressive turnout, but other times, not a whole lot of people show up.”
Fluck was pleased with the turnout Thursday morning.
“We had a good turnout,” he said. “We talked to a lot of people.”
Each quarter, Coffee with a Cop takes place at different locations across the city of Taylor.
“We last did this at Ripple Coffee Shop,” Fluck said. “We go to different locations and try to do it at local establishments.”
According to Fluck, Coffee with a Cop has previously taken place at Whataburger, the Vintique Mall, Mariachi’s and one of the banks in town. However, he prefers to host the event at coffee shops.
“What we found out is that the coffee shop environment gets the most attendance,” Fluck said. “More people get excited to go to a coffee shop.”
