THIRD THURSDAY

Every third Thursday of each month, Taylor’s downtown businesses will be open past 5 until 8 p.m. and offer in-store specials, live music, door prizes and other activities. The event is designed to encourage residents to shop locally and become familiar with the shops in the downtown area.

COVID-19 & FLU VACCINES

The Williamson County and Cities Health District will have a walk-in clinic for COVID-19 and flu vaccinations every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Taylor building is located at 115 W. 6th St., one block from Main Street north of downtown Taylor. TAX ASSISTANCE

The Taylor Public Library, 801 Vance St., is hosting two tax assistance programs free of charge.

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) will be on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. VITA takes walk-ins only. No reservations required.

AARP Tax Assistance will be available Wednesdays noon to 4 p.m., but online reservations are required for this service.

VEGETABLE GROWERS

Wednesday, April 6 — The Williamson County AgriLife Extension Service will offer a vegetable growers conference from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SPJST Hall, 5025 FM 619 in Taylor. Pre-registration is required at https://williamson.agrilife.org/events. The program is $10.

GOLF TOURNEY

Friday, April 8 — The Rotary Club of Taylor will host a golf tournament with a tee time of noon. The tournament will be held at the Mustang Creek Country Club in Taylor. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/TaylorRotaryClub76574.

BICYCLE BLESSING

Saturday, April 9 — Area bicyclists can get their two-wheel vehicles blessed at New Sweden Lutheran Church, 12809 New Sweden Cburch Road in Manor, at 10:30 a.m.

FOOD DRIVE

Sunday, April 10 — A Psalm Sunday Community Food Drive will be from 4 to 5 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church parking lot, 401 West Seventh Street in Taylor. The food drive will benefit Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantry and Community Ministries.

MASTER GARDENER

Monday, April 11 — Succulents will be the topic of the April monthly meeting for the Texas A&M AgrilLife Extension’s Master Gardener program. The meeting will be from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Extension Office, Room 226 at 100 Wilco Way in Georgetown. A virtual option is also available. 7 SAYINGS OF CROSS

Friday, April 15 — Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will host “The 7 Sayings of the Cross” at 7 p.m., featuring a speaker. The church is located at 612 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Taylor

EASTER FEST

Sunday, April 17 — The 1st Annual Southside Easter Extravaganza will be at 2 p.m. at Fannie Robinson Park, 260 S. Dolan St. in Taylor. Food and drinks will be provided.

LUMINARIES ON THE SQUARE

Friday, April 22 — Join people for an evening of honoring all cancer survivors and their caregivers, as well as remembering those who lost the fight. The event will be at Heritage Square from 6 to 9 p.m. All donations go to the American Cancer Society.

PLANT SWAP

Saturday, April 23 — The Friends of the Taylor Public Library will host a plant swap at the library, 801 Vance St. in Taylor. People can bring plants at 10 a.m., and swapping will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free, and all children will get a free plant. There will be master gardeners throughout the day, along with informal gardening advice circles.

5K, 10K, MORE
