JARRELL — The Taylor Lady Ducks’ offense came alive in an 11-1 run-rule win over the Jarrell Cougars on Friday, April 11. Freshman Dianellie Frausto led the way, going 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs.

Both teams were retired in order in the first inning before Taylor broke through with a fiverun second inning. Sophomore Kambri Oglesby started the rally with a single, followed by backto- back walks to load the bases.

The Lady Ducks then walked in two straight runs before junior Alayna Ortiz added an RBI single to make it 3-0. Frausto and fellow freshman Chandler Woodruff each delivered RBI singles to push the lead to 5-0.

Taylor added three more runs in the fourth, capitalizing on a Jarrell error, a walk and a fielder’s choice to make it 8-0. The Cougars briefly cut into the lead with an RBI double in the bottom of the inning, but Taylor sealed the run-rule win in the fifth with a two-run single from Frausto and an RBI single by Oglesby.

Freshman Payton Burrow earned the win in the circle, allowing one run on five innings pitched with six strikeouts.

The victory was Taylor’s second straight, following a 9-8 win over Lampasas on Tuesday, April 8.

With the win, Taylor improved to 8-13 overall and 3-7 in district play, currently sitting fourth in the district standings. The Lady Ducks faced Burnet on Tuesday, April 15, and will close out the regular season at home against Gateway Preparatory on Thursday, April 17, at 7 p.m.
