MANOR — The Hutto Lady Hippos varsity softball team extended their district winning streak to four games with a dominant 12-1 run-rule victory over Manor on Tuesday, April 8.

Hutto jumped out to an early lead, plating two runs in the first inning on an RBI double by Sophie McElyea and an RBI single from M’Kayla Hicks. Hicks finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a team-leading three RBIs.

The Lady Hippos broke the game open in the second inning, scoring six runs. McElyea drove in two more with a single to make it 4-0, followed by an RBI single from Makenzie Klos. Hutto then drew three consecutive bases-loaded walks to take an 8-0 lead.

The offense kept rolling in the third with a sacrifice fly, and another run was walked in during the fourth to make it 10-0. Makenna Castillo added a two-RBI single later in the inning to push the lead to 12-0.

Bailey Kelley earned the win in the circle, pitching a scoreless first inning. Molly Kreig entered in relief and tossed four innings, allowing one run and striking out three.
