THRALL — The Thrall Tigers varsity baseball team dropped a 4-1 decision to Cameron Yoe on Friday, April 4, splitting the two-game district series. Thrall had taken the first matchup in dominant fashion, 14-2.

The Tigers struck first with an RBI single from sophomore Gus Navejas in the bottom of the first inning. Both teams were held scoreless until the top of the fourth, when the Yoemen tied the game on a sacrifice fly.

Sophomore Weston Smiley led off the bottom half of the fourth with a single, but Thrall was unable to capitalize. Cameron took control in the fifth, scoring two runs on a groundout and a bases-loaded walk to make it 3-1.

Thrall once again got the leadoff runner aboard in the bottom half following a walk but failed to bring him home. Cameron added an insurance run in the sixth on another sacrifice fly, extending the lead to 4-1.

The Tigers were retired in order in the bottom of the sixth and couldn’t mount a comeback in the seventh, as the game ended on a flyout.

Thrall dropped to 15-4-1 overall and 4-2 in district play. The Tigers returned to action Tuesday, April 8, against Lexington and will conclude the series on the road Friday, April 11, at 6 p.m.
