JARRELL — The Taylor varsity track and field team had three relay teams and four individuals qualify for the area meet after competing in the district meet in Jarrell on Thursday, April 3.
The boys’ 4x200meter relay team placed fourth in the finals with a time of 1:34.71. The team included Cayden Hinsley, Ethan Flag, Jacob Chavana and Jamarcus Seawood.
Aiden James secured second place in the high jump with a mark of 6 feet.
On the girls’ side, two relay teams advanced, with the 4x100 and 4x200 teams both finishing fourth. The teams included Angelee Phillips, Cameria Douglas, Zakaya Frederick, Janess Garcia and Tiana Candee.
Individually, Phillips qualified in two events, placing third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.11 seconds and third in the triple jump with a mark of 32 feet, 9 inches. Candee also earned a spot at the area meet, finishing just behind Phillips in the triple jump at 32 feet, 7 inches.
The qualifiers will compete in the area meet on Wednesday, April 9, at Jarrell High School.
