Three takeaways

Ducks snap skid with dominant win

After all the turmoil surrounding the altercation between Taylor and Lampasas, the Ducks finally got the reset they needed with a dominant, drama-free victory over Jarrell.

Taylor run-ruled the Cougars in five innings, 17-1, securing their first district win and snapping a five-game losing streak. Freshman Tayden Talley continued to impress both on the mound and at the plate, leading the team with three RBIs. With this much-needed win, the Ducks have a chance to turn their season around and build momentum in district play.

Thrall’s ‘Cardiac Cats’ deliver more late-game heroics

The Thrall varsity baseball team is making a habit of dramatic finishes, winning two of its last three games in walk-off fashion.

Senior Jack Gustafson lifted the Tigers past Caldwell with an RBI single in a 6-5 victory, while sophomore Gus Navejas delivered the game-winning double against Rogers. Thrall has thrived in tight games, leaning on its deep bullpen and clutch hitting to pull out narrow victories.

With their knack for late-game heroics, the Tigers are living up to their new nickname: the “Cardiac Cats.”

Taylor soccer wraps up successful seasons

Taylor’s boys' and girls' varsity soccer teams both wrapped up impressive seasons with postseason appearances. The Lady Ducks notched a firstround playoff win over China Spring, further cementing Taylor’s reputation as a powerhouse in the area. Year after year, the Ducks have proven they can compete with the best in Class 4A, consistently making postseason appearances and battling elite competition.
