BELTON — The Taylor Lady Ducks varsity soccer team secured a 2-1 victory over the China Spring Cougars in the bidistrict round of the playoffs on Friday, March 21, at Tiger Field in Belton.

After a scoreless first half, junior Avery Paulson and sophomore Analisa Arredondo found the back of the net in the second half to complete the comeback win. Taylor struggled to break through a strong China Spring defense early, while the Cougars took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

However, the Lady Ducks responded in the second half with goals from Paulson and Arredondo, assisted by junior Peyton Wamble and sophomore Kaitlin Crane, respectively. Taylor’s defense held strong in the final minutes, shutting down China Spring’s attack to preserve the win.

The victory marks the second straight season the Lady Ducks have won at least one postseason game. Taylor advanced to the area round and faced Needville on Tuesday, March 25, looking to continue its playoff run.
