THRALL — The Thrall Tigerettes varsity softball team secured a 7-1 victory over the Milano Eagles on Friday, March 21. Sophomore Kenzie Engelke led the offense, going 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs.
Thrall struck early, plating three runs in the bottom of the first. Junior Riley Luton hit a two-run homer, and Engelke followed with a solo shot to give the Tigerettes a 3-0 lead.
Luton finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Both teams were scoreless in the second inning, but Milano cut into the lead in the third with an RBI double to make it 3-1.
However, Thrall responded with four runs in the top of the third, including two runs scored on an error and Engelke’s second two-run homer of the game, extending the lead to 7-1.
Junior pitcher Miley Pokorny had another stellar outing, tossing a complete game and allowing just one run while striking out five.
With the win, Thrall improved to 10-9 overall and 1-3 in district play. The Tigerettes will next face Rogers in a home-and-home series as they hosted Rogers on Tuesday, March 25, before traveling to take on the Eagles on Friday, March 28, at 7 p.m.
