HUTTO — The Hutto Hippos varsity baseball team run-ruled the Manor Mustangs, 15-0, in five innings Tuesday evening in Hutto, with seniors Jaydn Saxbury and Michael Elquist combining for six RBIs. This was the second game of the series as the Hippos picked up a 23-3 victory over the Mustangs in game one.
Hutto jumped out to a quick lead, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning on two fielder's choices, an error and a groundout. The Hippos added another run in the second on a groundout, making it 5-0.
The third inning saw an offensive explosion as Hutto tacked on eight more runs. Seniors Anthony Garcia, Roman Grametbauer, and Jaydn Littles each delivered RBI singles, while Saxbury capped the frame with a tworun double, extending the lead to 13-0.
The Hippos added two more runs in the fourth with an RBI double from Grametbauer and an RBI single from Elquist, sealing the 15-0 victory.
Junior pitcher Braxton Parker earned the win, pitching four innings with four strikeouts. Junior pitcher Noah Castillo closed out the game in the fifth.
With the win, Hutto improved to 7-10 overall and 2-2 in district play. The Hippos return to action Friday, March 28, hosting Round Rock Westwood at 7 p.m.
