SALADO — The Taylor Ducks boys varsity soccer team’s season ended Thursday, March 20, with a 3-1 loss to the La Vega Pirates in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
La Vega took a 1-0 lead with 25 minutes left in the first half after scoring a goal assisted by a corner kick. The Pirates extended their lead at the 19-minute mark, making it 2-0 heading into halftime.
Taylor responded early in the second half, cutting the deficit to 2-1 after sophomore Rivaldo Grimaldos scored assisted by a corner kick with 33 minutes remaining. The Ducks’ defense held strong for much of the game, but La Vega added another goal with 28 minutes left to secure the 3-1 win. Taylor had opportunities to score late but was unable to capitalize.
The Ducks finished the season 11-9-1 overall and 10-6 in district play, continuing their winning tradition with another postseason appearance.
